As a cluster member of the GreenTrans-Edu project, Prof. Martin Morgeneyer from Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC) visited TU Ilmenau and delivered a guest lecture on how sustainability is integrated into teaching and research activities at UTC. The lecture was attended by lecturers, researchers, and students of TU Ilmenau and was moderated by the Vice President for Research, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Stefan Sinzinger.
UTC, as a cluster member of GreenTrans-Edu, maintains a close partnership with TU Ilmenau through sustainability projects and is part of the SUNRISE Alliance, which brings together nine smaller higher education institutions across Europe. During his visit, Prof. Morgeneyer also shared his teaching concept as part of his Jean Monnet Professorship in the campus radio program Ilmenau Sustainability Corner. In the program, he highlighted how he teaches the value of the European Union to engineering students at UTC—an approach considered crucial for the education of future engineers in Europe. In addition to his lecture, Prof. Morgeneyer discussed ways UTC scientists could contribute to the consortium’s research work packages on Soil Quality (SDG 15) and Energy Transformation (SDG 7). The discussions also explored opportunities for student exchanges on sustainability initiatives between TU Ilmenau and UTC, as well as how the GreenTrans-Edu project could benefit from such collaborative efforts.
